Waterways Management services have been applied to: dredging studies, navigational planning, vessel traffic analysis, and the analysis of the deployment of waterways management resources by waterways management agencies. Example - Fraser River Draught Utilization Study, Fraser River, CanadaThe client, the Canadian Coast Guard, required an analysis of deep sea vessel traffic on the Fraser River over a five year period. The purpose of the analysis was to determine the degree to which deep sea vessels were taking advantage of available water depths. Example - National Commercial Channel Inventory, British ColumbiaThe client, the Canadian Coast Guard, maintains a national database of vessel movements, vessel water depth requirements and of marine facilities, shippers and carriers. Lauga & Associates carried out several assignments in British Columbia for this project. Example - Mackenzie River Early Deployment StudyThe client, the Canadian Coast Guard, provides seasonal navigation services on 2,000 km of the Mackenzie River main channel. Lauga & Associates assess the logistical impact of shortening the shipping season on the Mackenzie River. Example - St. Lawrence Seaway Management ModelThe International Joint Commission needed a vessel operations model that the Seaway managers could use to select water level and flow management plans. Lauga & Associates provided a simulation software package to measure vessel operations and cost impacts. Example - Benefits of Navigation on the Upper Fraser RiverThe Canadian Coast Guard needed an investigation of the benefits of navigational improvements on the Upper Fraser River, Sumas to Hope. Lauga & Associates provide a review of navigational issues, marine traffic data and determined the tax payer benefit of keeping marine cargoes off of highways. Example - Marine Traffic Survey for Courtenay, Squamish and the Upper Fraser RiverThe Canadian Coast Guard needed traffic data about commercial vessel operations in Courtenay, Squamish and the Upper Fraser River. Lauga & Associates provided detailed origin-destination traffic data and mapped the locations of marine activity. |
