Example - Fraser River Draught Utilization Study, Fraser River, Canada

The client, the Canadian Coast Guard, required an analysis of deep sea vessel traffic on the Fraser River over a five year period.  The purpose of the analysis was to determine the degree to which deep sea vessels were taking advantage of available water depths.  A database was and report was prepared which described:

bulletThe relationship between registered draught and actual draught;
bulletThe degree to which vessel movements were timed to take advantage of tides;
bulletThe degree to which the two way capacity of the channel was utilized;
bulletTrends in the numbers of movements broken down by entries, departures, intra-channel terminal to terminal movements and other movements;
bulletTrends in vessel transit times.
